  • Bridging a Nation is the third mission of the classic campaign in the game Railroad Tycoon II. The basis of this scenario is the construction of the first transcontinental railroads in the US throughout the 1860s and 70s. The map used for this mission is a modified version of the Western USA standalone scenario. If you thought it was tough back east, wait 'til you try to connect to the west! You'll need to use every resource available to reach your goal! Man, metal, and money will only get you s

  • Playing through the third map of Railroad Tycoon II, on macOS, using the PlayOnMac Windows emulator. This map simulates the building of the first railway across the USA, by building a railway from St. Louis to Sacramento, St. Paul to Seattle or New Orleans to Los Angeles. We have opted for the first option - building from St Louis to Sacramento. Primarily because St. Louis is surrounded by large cities from which to derive a development income to fund the railway. Our strategy involved putting in place that money making machine around St Louis, building a discreet railway around Sacramento and San Francisco, and ultimately building pretty much due east to connect the two networks. Don’t be surprised if we redo this map with the remaining options later in this series. One of the reasons that we chose the first option was because we have completed that several times before and knew roughly how to approach it. We may also revisit this video in due course, having marginally missed out on gold completion through mis-timing.
