Mohamed Salah has named Kevin De Bruyne, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo as the holy trinity of players he wished he could have shared the pitch with.
The 'Egyptian King' recently put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension with Liverpool, ending speculation as to whether the 2024/25 campaign would be his last outing with the Reds. With 243 goals and 112 assists to his name with Liverpool, and teetering on the edge of claiming a second Premier League title, Salah will go down in the annals of history as one of the league's greatest-ever to grace the pitch.
He finds himself in elite company too, sharing this distinction with the likes of De Bruyne and Ronaldo, who have left indelible marks on the English top-flight with their performances for their respective Manchester clubs. Messi, too, stands out as a global football icon, his trophy-laden career including eight Ballon d'Ors, 12 league titles, and four Champions League victories across his time with Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Inter Miami.
In a candid chat with Sky Sports in 2023, Salah said: "Messi or Ronaldo, but if I pick one in the Premier League then I'd choose Kevin. He has vision, I'm sure he can find me anywhere with the ball so I would say Messi, Ronaldo and then Kevin.
"He's a great player, the whole team (City) is great. But I just try to play my game and not focus on anyone else," reports the Liverpool Echo. De Bruyne's journey to the top began in the youth ranks of Genk, before he moved to Chelsea for a two-year stint.

A season with VfL Wolfsburg followed, and it was from there that Pep Guardiola brought him to Manchester City in 2015 for a fee of £54.5million. In the decade since, De Bruyne has been a driving force behind City's success, scoring 107 goals and providing 177 assists.
He has won six Premier League titles, nine domestic cups, and a Champions League title, cementing his status as one of the greatest players in City's history. However, De Bruyne recently announced that the 2024/25 season will be his last with City.

In an emotional Instagram post, he wrote: "Dear Manchester. Seeing this, you probably realise where this is heading. So I'll get straight to it and let you all know that these will be my final months as a Manchester City player.
"Nothing about this is easy to write, but as football players, we all know this day eventually comes. That day is here - and you deserve to hear it from me first. Football led me to all of you - and to this city. Chasing my dream, not knowing this period would change my life.
"This city. This club. These people... gave me EVERYTHING. I had no choice but to give EVERYTHING back! And guess what - we won EVERYTHING. Whether we like it or not, it's time to say goodbye. Suri, Rome, Mason, Michele and I are beyond grateful for what this place has meant to our family. 'Manchester' will forever be on our kids' passports - and more importantly, in each of our hearts.

"This will always be our HOME. We cannot thank the city, club, staff, team-mates, friends, and family enough for this 10-year ride. Every story comes to an end, but this has definitely been the best chapter. Let's enjoy these last moments together! Much love, KDB 17."
Messi and Ronaldo, in contrast, stand as the two titans of today's game, continuously rivalling for the 'greatest of all-time' title. Ronaldo's storied journey included six years at Manchester United from 2003 to 2009, before his heralded comeback in 2021 after successful stints at Real Madrid and Juventus.
Now aged 40, Ronaldo is still making waves in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Nassr. Meanwhile, a younger Salah, at 32, continues to display peak performance without any hint of decline.
With 27 goals to his name in the Premier League this season, Salah has been pivotal in Liverpool's quest for glory under the new management of Arne Slot. Currently, the Reds boast a comfortable 13-point lead over second-placed Arsenal, with just six matches remaining.
